Would you like to establish a permanent gift fund to support a particular program, project or ministry of a Baptist or Christian cause, but are concerned about making a large single lifetime gift to create the fund? A Flexible Endowment Fund with the Kentucky Baptist Foundation may be the answer. A flexible endowment fund is a charitable giving option that allows the giver to set up a plan for the creation of a significant endowment fund within a flexible, but defined, timetable. It also secures, up front, the stream of income the benefiting cause needs to support the program, project or ministry for which the fund is being established.
You and the benefiting cause will agree on the principal amount needed to provide the required income to operate the program, project or ministry. This principal amount can be funded over a period of up to five years. You choose when, during the principal funding period, to make the additions to principal to complete the funding of the endowment---there is no set schedule for principal gift additions.
This gift plan also requires that you agree to make “annual expendable gifts” to provide the income the benefiting cause will need to operate the program, project or ministry until the funding of the endowment is complete. These annual expendable gifts will be distributed directly to the benefiting cause each year. Their amount will decrease as the earnings of the endowment increase. They will no longer be required when you have completed funding the agreed-on principal amount.
